For our first week of camp we kicked off the summer with some creative woodworking classes. The students used wood pieces, small hammers, glue and more to learn how to create things with these elements.
The result was beautiful and unique pieces of art! They created wood wall hangings with summery flowers painted on the the wood all made from scratch! Our carpentry classes were a huge success. Fun was had by everyone, even the teachers!
Every year we offer the opportunity for more children from our community to learn Spanish while having fun in the sun at our Summer Camps. Children ages 18 months to 12 years old are able to come and enjoy learning science, art, crafts and cooking all in 100% Spanish. We also include plenty of outside play time with our gardening, sand and pool play!
Our July Summer Camp will be from July 6th to July 29th and our August Summer Camp is July 30th to August 21st. Students from 18 months to entry Kindergarten can join our July, August or both July and August full month camps. Students Kindergarten and up can choose a weekly camp. On May 8th we had our Mother’s Day Tea Party celebration. Moms and important loved ones came to the school to enjoy tea and breakfast with their little ones. The children honored their mamas with adorable hand-made cards, presents, cupcakes and even wrapping paper!
Each class also performed and sang sweet songs to their moms. There was a lot of smiles, hugs and love at our Mother's Day event. We hope all that attended enjoyed the special time with their children.
My Spanish Village offers extracurricular classes including ballet twice a month for both boys and girls. Catherine Bartomeo, an instructor from The Ballet School of Walnut Creek, teaches the children beginning basics of this famous form of dance.
We love ballet classes because we truly believe ballet promotes physical strength and agility, can boost concentration, help children develop an understanding of music and rhythm and generate a love of movement.
We had such a fun EGG HUNT this year! Our students found chocolate eggs in their hand made baskets and wore their adorable bunny ear hats. It was a short activity time, but totally worth taking the pictures of our bunny look alike students.
Each class also made adorable egg and chicken crafts. Click "Read More" below to see all the eggcellent things the children created to celebrate the Easter holiday!
In a culture that seems to glorify violence in everything from music to video games and television shows, the idea of enrolling your child in martial arts training classes doesn’t always seem like a good one. While martial arts-centered action films seem to be filled to the brim with violent behavior and gory injuries, you may be surprised to learn that martial arts’ training is actually very beneficial to kids.
Like so many other things that Hollywood doesn’t always get right, martial arts isn’t quite the brutal, vicious pastime that it seems. In fact, these are 10 of the reasons why you may want to consider martial arts training for your kids. Read more about the many benefits of karate for kids here.
In February, all the MSV Classes visited The Oakland Zoo. It is a very rich experience for children to get along with their classmates on field trips and a great learning experience on how to behave outside of the school.
It's also a lot of fun to learn about wild animals, where they originally live, what they like to eat and much more!
On February 13th we had our Fiesta del día de San Valentín. Our MSV students brought Valentine cards to share with their friends and they all had a special snack time between 10:00 am - 10:30am with cookies/ice cream and decorations in each class at 12:00pm.
Everyone was invited! It was a nice morning with a lots of amor, abrazos, cards and friendship!
