Our Director & Owner

I believe I was born to be an educator. When I was a child I loved to take care of my little cousins and younger relatives. While the girls my age had different interests I was so happy teaching and babysitting my cousins or whoever’s child needed to be taken care of.

At age 16,  I was accepted at the Antenor Orrego Private University in Trujillo – Peru to study Early Childhood Education for 5 years.  During summer, when I was off the university, I created small Summer Camps at my parent’s home. I had students from ages 18 months to 13 years.

It has always been my dream to own and operate a preschool. As time went by, I created my own family and we moved to Lima, Peru. Here I worked for several years teaching different preschool classes from ages 1 year to 6 years old and supported the preschool foundation.

In March 2004, my family and I moved to California.  I quickly started looking for a preschool teacher position and began working at a local preschool in Lafayette for almost two years.  While working as a preschool teacher,  I took ECE classes at Diablo Valley College to learn about The North American approach about ECE.

In 2006, I decided it was time to fulfill my life long dream. My first goal was to create a unique, different and special place where children would feel transported to a magical space. Where learning would be super fun, where they could express themselves in many different ways and explore.  A place where they would feel loved, heard, important and that they belonged.

A program where their intellect would constantly be challenged without feeling overwhelmed. Where they can develop important lifelong skills and learn to love every earthling, respect nature, respect themselves and understand their bodies.

Where diversity would be a natural status, learning another language would feel organic and a place that lights their first fire for learning. A passion that will stay forever in the hearts of each child after their journey at MSV.

I embraced my project and fell in love.  With a lot of work and excitement, I founded My Spanish Village in 2006.  It began as a small family daycare in Walnut Creek expanding the following year into a large family daycare.  In August 2009, we moved the preschool facility to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in downtown Walnut Creek.

My Spanish Village is now a licensed preschool and Kindergarten center in a colorful space where children learn both the Spanish language and culture.  My dream has come true!
